Hi, my name is Rahila. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Studies with an emphasis in Journalism and Mass Communications from The University of Missouri-Kansas City. With my degree, I aspire to become an influential communicator in a marketing field.
When I am not focused on working, I love spending time with my family and friends, working out, traveling, reading a book, or listening to a podcast whilst driving aimlessly to find adventure.
This portfolio started off as a simple, final project for my capstone class, but it became the gateway to being able to express myself freely without judgment. I’m Muslim, but I’m also a writer that indulges in her curiosity to convey her true thoughts and emotions. I understand the color of my skin and the religion I believe in has been associated with negativity in the past, but I hope to utilize this portfolio to show you that my skin color and religious beliefs play little role in the identity I am learning to search for and accept.
You’re probably wondering why I chose to display a picture of myself that is focused primarily on the sunflowers, rather than my face. Well, I’ve told you I’m Muslim and most people will have subconsciously created judgments before getting the chance to meet me. Do me a favor? Focus on the more significant attributes and you’ll see who I really am.
If you’re still curious to get know the real Rahila, please feel free to email me.
